The Institute
The institute for Aquatic Ecology and Fisheries Management is situated in Scharfling nearby lake Mondsee. It was founded as "Fishery Biological Station Weissenbach at Attersee" in 1928, and since 1953 it is located in Scharfling. The institute comprises four departments and the fish farm Kreuzstein, Mag. Dr. Hubert Gassner is the substitutional head.

Tasks and aims
We are an institution of the Federal Office for Water Management, which is part of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management.

History
Today's Institute of Aquatic Ecology and Fisheries Management was founded in 1928 as the "Fisheries Biological Station Weissenbach am Attersee" and at that time belonged to the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences.
