The picture was taken from an oblique position, at a viewpoint near the Danube. There are some tall trees on a meadow in front of the parallel to the road erected building. There are two football goals in the meadow, but without nets. Behind is a fence with access to the canal, through which Danube water can be channelled into experimental facilities in the building. The facade of the building is divided into vertical stripes (dark grey and white). In the dark vertical stripes are windows of the office and laboratory rooms. Three white poles on the roof are lightning rods. The picture was taken in the early, sunny morning.

by tram / bus:

take tram D (direction Nußdorf) to the stop "Sickenberggasse", then walk about 10 minutes to the institute (across the Schemerl bridge). On the graphic the way is dashed green.

take bus 400 (runs between Wien Heiligenstadt ⇔ Klosterneuburg-Kierling Bhf. / Maria Gugging) and get off at the stop "Wien Nussdorf Bahnhaltestelle". also about 10 minutes walk to the institute (across the Schemerl bridge).

by rail:

from Wien-Meidling or Wien-Westbahnhof take the U6 (direction Floridsdorf) to the stop "Spittelau", there take the tram D (direction Nußdorf) to the stop "Sickenberggasse". Then walk about 10 minutes to the institute (over the Schemerlbrücke). On the graphic the way is dashed in green.

from Schwechat airport:

take the rapid transit line S7 or regional train from Schwechat to "Wien Mitte / Landstraße" (direction Wien Praterstern or Floridsdorf), then the subway line U4 (direction Heiligenstadt) to "Spittelau", continue with the tram D (direction Nußdorf) to the stop "Sickenberggasse". Then walk about 10 minutes to the institute (over the Schemerl bridge). On the graphic the way is dashed in green.

by car:

Enter "Vienna" or zip code "1200" in the navigation system and "Am Brigittenauer Sporn 3" as the street.
We have few private parking spaces available and the Vienna short-term parking zone does not apply here.

by truck:

The arrival with a truck to us is ONLY possible via the Handelskai. As soon as you see the building on the left side behind the Nußdorfer Schleusen bridge, turn left into the downward sloping access road, see also some pictures below. On the other access via Sickenberggasse there is a height and weight restriction (3.4 m / 25 t) - see picture below.

The main building is seen at the front. Left open barrier, next to it light pole. The door outlined in red is the current small main entrance, further to the right is the future larger main entrance, which is already connected to the street with a blind marker on the ground. On the far right, bicycle racks are mounted on the ground. At the top left of the building is the logo of the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences with the lettering BOKU.

Front of the main building (coming from Schemerl bridge), red marked area is the current main entrance behind the visible barrier.

You can see the new illuminated signpost. This sign shows corresponding arrows, all pointing to the right, to show where the main entrance and visitor parking, postal delivery and truck access point are located. At the top it says "Wasserbaulabor River Lab" with the logo of the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU), in the middle the arrows with the short designations and signs, below that the logo of the university, to the right the abbreviation IWA with a blue area in which there are two drops of water, below that the text "Institut für Wasserbau, Hydraulik und Fließgewässerforschung", further below the logo of the Austrian federal services (the Austrian flag cut off diagonally on the left), next to that the text "Bundesamt für Wasserwirtschaft, Institut für Wasserbau und hydrometrische Prüfung". The access for visitors is gated (currently open) and a marked parking area for wheelchair users is also visible in the photo. Behind the signpost is the building consisting of 4 floors with the main entrance.

The signpost for deliveries with trucks (southern side, direction Schemerl bridge).

On the picture you can see a railroad bridge running across, below and in front of it runs the Sickenberggasse with a view to the institute, which can be seen small in the background. The signs warn of this as mentioned in the text on how to get to us with trucks.
