Together with numerous guests, we celebrated our 30th anniversary - in summery temperatures but in a festive atmosphere.
In his speech, the head of our Federal Office, Director Peter Strauss, looked back on 30 years of dedicated work - and clearly pointed out how important research, collaboration and innovation are for the challenges ahead.
Section Head Monika Mörth, who represented Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig, emphasized in her speech that each of our institutes can look back on a much longer history - a total of 300 years of specialist expertise that has been pooled in the BAW. However, the merger in 1995 not only created organizational synergies, but above all strengthened the scientific expertise of the federal government in water management.
A special highlight: Prof. Gunter Bloschl impressed the audience with an inspiring keynote speech - and was awarded the Neptune State Prize for Water that evening. A well-deserved recognition for his many years of outstanding commitment to water research!
Another highlight: the fashion show by the Hallein Fashion School, in which young talents impressively presented their creativity - naturally with reference to the topic of water.
The celebration was an all-round successful evening - characterized by professional exchange, appreciation and a clear commitment: water concerns us all - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
A big thank you to everyone who made this special evening possible and celebrated with us!
We have also captured the last 30 years in the form of a photo animation. Take a look at our YouTube-Channel - and don't forget to subscribe to us.
