Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig, responsible for Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management, was warmly welcomed to our institute in Petzenkirchen on 21 November 2024. After the screening of our BAW movie and a short presentation of current projects, he was given a tour of the laboratory facilities and a demonstration of a rain simulation. The visit was rounded off with a tour of the hydrological catchment area (HOAL).
‘The Federal Office for Water Management and its institutes have highly specialised expertise in important areas of water management. The BAW supports us in our current challenges of climate change adaptation, food security, aquaculture and protection against natural hazards with its outstanding expertise under the prudent leadership of Peter Strauss. Next year we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of this important department of the ministry,’ said Water Minister Norbert Totschnig on the occasion of his visit to Petzenkirchen.
