Great Interest in Our Work at the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory in Vienna

Over the past few days, we have had the pleasure of welcoming various groups to the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory to learn about the work of the Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Hydrometry.

It started with the class 7B of the AHS Bildungscampus Flora Fries on 12 March 2025. The students got an exciting insight into our flood protection and aquatic ecology projects. We guided them in two groups through our hydraulic engineering laboratory at Brigittenauer Sporn and explained the unique hydrological situation of our laboratory.

Next was a tour for the Association of Public Mandataries (Vereinigung Öffentlicher Mandatar:innen). They were also given an overview of our projects and working methods, and showed great interest in the research opportunities at the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory.

As part of the training for water police officers on 13 March, we provided a group of police officers with knowledge on topics such as "Flood Hazards", "Flood Protection", "Aquatic Ecology" and "Spreading of inflows into watercourses".

A highlight for young and old alike was the opportunity to explore the interactions between morphology and water flow in our two small experimental flumes.
