Water Experience Day 2026 in Bad Ischl: BAW-IGF Showcases Research and Fish Farming

On 25 June 2026, the Directorate for Environment & Water Management of the State of Upper Austria invited visitors to the great Water Experience Day at the Bad Ischl Spa Park under the motto "Our Water Treasure." With free admission and over 20 knowledge and experiment stations, school classes in the morning and families and other interested visitors in the afternoon were able to experience the many facets of water. Already in the morning, around 750 schoolchildren took part in the program, and in the afternoon numerous further visitors came to learn more.

Our Stand: "Exploring Fish – Sustainable Use"

The Federal Agency for Water Management – Institute for Water Ecology and Fisheries Management (BAW-IGF) presented its own stand, "Exploring Fish – Sustainable Use," showing all interested visitors the institute's two core areas of work using nets, fish sampling equipment, aquaculture tools, fish models, and feed samples.

The hands-on format was especially popular with school classes: many children were able to try out the equipment themselves and ask our experts questions directly. For BAW-IGF, the day was a great opportunity to bring both the importance of healthy waters and domestic aquaculture closer to a broad audience.
