The assessments of the ecological status of running waters required by the Water Framework Directive of the European Union (EU WRRL) must be comparable throughout Europe. For this purpose, the results of the Fisch Index Austria were compared with the assessment schemes of the other European member states. This process has been completed for small water bodies and confirms the assessment method in a Europe-wide context.
