Information

The education is a modular concept and can be completed within three years. During seven modules, we teach the subjects Aquaculture, fisheries management, ichthyology, hydrology and fish health.

On behalf of the “Lehrlings- und Fachausbildungsstelle” of the board of Agriculture we perform the education in the special field of fisheries for people throughout Austria. All subject-specific lessons are conducted at the institute in Scharfling, general lessons as well as fish processing are conducted at the “abz Salzkammergut” in Altmünster.

Similar to other professional guilds the instruction in fisheries follows a dual system, in addition to the employment the apprentice has to visit school. We conduct the seven modules in a rotation; the access is possible at each module. One cycle, and hence the education, lasts three years. The course participants graduate after an exam by an examination board.
