Retention soils Southeast Styria

For the municipality of Fernitz-Mellach, the existing slope water map of the municipality will be optimized within the framework of the pilot project Retention Soils Southeast Styria in order to gain better insights into the potential of the concept "retention soils".

Water retention on the surface can help prevent erosion damage from heavy precipitation. In the picture you can see a brown, muddy field with water areas.

Short description:

Effects of crop rotation and management in a slope area strongly affected by sediment discharge in the municipality of Fernitz-Mellach are to be evaluated by means of an accurate slope water map and better management practices for the endangered area are to be derived from it.

The aim of the project is to improve an already existing slope water map by means of new and accurate laboratory investigations on various hydropedological and hydraulic soil properties.
